Humboldt Peak,Sept 07

Humboldt Peak,14,064 ft.
Our campspot,at the top of the trail, just beyond the sign.
Four fat marmots chillin on a rock behind my tent.

Lookin out towards Westcliff.

Kent,on the ridge above the north face of Humboldt.

Our camp was down by the far end of the smaller lake.
On the Northwest Couliour route. It was pretty chilly....and windy.....and pretty exposed.

Crestone Peak.
Crestone Needle and Peak in the background. Both 14ers(14,000ft..)
Crestone Peak to the right, behind cousin Tom. Its the 8th highest peak in Colorado and one of the hardest 14ers.
Crestone Needle(big one at left) and Crestone Peak(at right, hard to make out.)

The stream that drains out of the top lakes, where we got our water for four days.

Perfect view of the Crestone Needle, behind the tent.
Humboldt is the big, broad one,on the right. Not in the clouds.
We went looking for lunch,on the way to the Sangre's,and came across this place. We had to stop by here. This is the super classy part of Pueblo. It was located right next to the log loob. Seriously.

Humboldt Peak is located in south central Colorado, within the Sangre De Cristo mountains. Its the states 37th highest peak,at 14,064 feet. It was my first (successful)climb of a fourteener. We tried Crestone Peak the day before,on Sept. 11th,but were denied. It was a very tough climb, considered one of the hardest fourteeners.
